WHAT IT IS

The new digital platform LISBOA ZERO, developed within the scope of the FORCE – Cities Cooperating for Circular Economy project, is the first integrated platform for the global management and 360 of food production surpluses, with the objective of avoiding food waste throughout the production, distribution and consumption line.

The new model is based on a global digital transformation of the surplus process of donations and distribution of food, more centralized, more efficient and more automated, with ecological, financial and structural gains.

The main strategic objective of the new LISBOA ZERO web app is to make the current model more digital, simple and scalable, with new areas of specialization and areas to be implemented. And also involve people, industry, social causes and strategic partnerships, with a more circular, innovative and sustainable model.

This is the first integrated platform for the global management and 360 of food production surpluses, with the objective of avoiding food waste in the entire production, distribution and consumption line.

After activation in Lisbon, and for the strategic objectives of exploration and replication of FORCE, the LISBOA ZERO platform can be replicated and implemented not only in the national territory where the ZERO DESPERDÍCIO network is already installed, but also in the other cities of FORCE – Hamburg, Genoa and Copenhagen – or any other city inside and outside the European space, in the context of the flow of food and biological or other wastes more adjusted to each context.

The new web app aims to contribute to the reduction of organic waste directly at its source, looking for an efficient, agile and scalable solution, in which the food products produced and near the end of their life cycle can be channeled to new channels and platforms. consumption, according to the circular economy, with impacts:

SOCIAL, since the re-channeling of the production of food surpluses has as its main target audience institutions of social solidarity, parish councils, foundations, among other organizations, and their beneficiaries and families who would otherwise have limited or even impossible access to those goods. This social impact also unfolds in improving the levels of quality of life and public health, combating food scarcity;

ENVIRONMENTAL, since it is an active instrument to reduce the carbon and water footprint of food production, contributing to the reduction of tons of CO2 emissions and consumption of water resources that otherwise would be expanded with increasingly more results serious for the sustainability of the environment, by not consuming all food production or by all processes associated with waste treatment;

ECONOMIC, by avoiding the waste of food production and re-channeling these products into a new line of consumption, thousands of euros that would be wasted are recovered through effective consumption, providing all users with an effective management tool.

The LISBOA ZERO platform is a management tool, both for participating entities that have access to all relevant information in one place, always up-to-date, as well as for DARIACORDAR, the managing entity of the ZERO DESPERDÍCIO network, the basic operational model of the application.

TARGETS

The new LISBOA ZERO app is aimed at all companies and institutions in Lisbon that are already users of the ZERO DESPERDÍCIO program or that will register as part of the platform communication and activation campaign to be carried out in 2020 and that intend to speed up the processes, have access to more management information and reduce food waste across the consumption line. It is, therefore, oriented towards Producers and Distributors, Food Retail and NGOs that promote social support.
