DOOR TO DOOR COLLECTION
The collection of undifferentiated waste (common waste) in Lisbon is carried out, mostly, in door-to-door circuits, in containers assigned to private individuals, or large producers (restaurants, markets, commerce and services). This collection is complemented, in areas of high waste production, with collection in buried containers located on public roads.
Timetables, collection days, and equipment used (containers, bags, paper bales) may vary depending on the location.
In the non-domestic sector, in certain waste producers (restaurants, markets, commerce and services), glass and/or biodegradable (organic) waste is also collected at the door of establishments, using individual containers.
In historic districts, plastic bags of different colors are used for different types of waste, but a system of common containers on public roads is gradually being implemented, with set collection days.
MEANS AND EQUIPMENT:

CONTAINERS
It is the municipality’s responsibility to ensure the delivery, replacement and repair of containers for individual and collective use.
The maintenance and cleaning of individual use containers is the responsibility of the citizens, or the entities to which they have been assigned.
The municipality ensures periodic washing of recycling bins and large containers, installed on public roads.

BAGS AND TAPES
In historic neighborhoods, bags and tapes of different colors are regularly delivered for recyclable waste (paper and packaging). If you do not receive them on the set days, you can request their delivery.
In these neighborhoods, a common container system is gradually being implemented on public roads, with set collection days.
Outside historic areas and only in exceptional cases, duly authorized, bags for the deposition of paper or packaging are allowed.
